2024 Yearbook of Engineering Achievement

We are honored to announce that our project, Riverside Elementary Lateral Spreading Resistance Element Design, has won the prestigious 2024 Yearbook Engineering Achievement (YEA) Award in the education category! This recognition highlights our commitment to excellence and innovation in engineering.

The Civil + Structural Engineering Media’s 2024 YEA Award competition celebrates innovation, excellence, and achievement in the AEC industry, showcasing groundbreaking projects from around the globe. This year’s YEA competition featured five categories: Water/Stormwater/Wastewater, Housing/Residential, Environmental/Sustainability, Transportation/Infrastructure, and Education (new for 2024).

Our Riverside Elementary Lateral Spreading Resistance Element (LSRE) Project involved ground improvement to stabilize soil adjacent to Wildcat Creek in San Pablo, California. The project was considered as Critical Needs and was constructed through a design–build procurement for West Contra Costa Unified School District. ENGEO developed an LRSE design report and construction documents within a tight project schedule. The project was subject to an in-process review by the School District and State of California Division of State Architect (DSA)/California Geological Survey (CGS). Previous evaluation of the site identified a hazard of liquefaction within the alluvium and the potential of lateral movement of over 2 feet in the direction of the creek in a seismic event.
