ENGEO recognized Earth Day this year by volunteering for the Ira Jinkins Recreation Center Revitalization Project in Oakland, CA. Joining nine other A/E/C firms, ENGEO celebrated the day weeding, planting, spreading mulch, painting, and collecting litter around the site. Marketing Coordinator for ENGEO, Melissa Glickman, shared her thoughts on the day.
We couldn’t have asked for a better group of people. With over 30 volunteers we finished the project in half the time. Everyone started off with a task and as soon as it was completed they jumped in wherever help was needed. Folks who had just met that morning were operating and communicating like a team who has known each other for years. It was a great day and felt so rewarding to make a difference for the Oakland community.
The Ira Jinkins Recreation Center is regularly used as an after school daycare for families whose children attend the local elementary school. Our efforts helped show these families the importance of this facility and the services it provides.
