Congratulations to all California Geotechnical Engineering Association (CalGeo) Award winners and the ENGEO team for winning CalGeo Outstanding Project Honorable Mention Awards in three different categories for three challenging projects.
This year, Neel Neelakantan, PhD, GE, and Chris Stouffer, PE, attended the CalGeo Project Awards Luncheon at Turtle Bay Resort in O’ahu on Friday, April 5, to represent ENGEO and to receive the Honorable Mention Awards.
“ENGEO is proud to have received this year’s CalGeo Honorable Mention Awards in three different categories. We are not only humbled by these awards but also feel very privileged and honored to have such a dedicated team of our staff and clients work in concert to deliver such successful projects. The breadth of the award categories also speaks volumes to our technical prowess and uncompromising client service. We dedicate these awards to our clients,” says Neel Neelakantan, PhD, GE.
We are thrilled to receive the following awards:
1. CalGeo Private Large-Budget Honorable Mention Award for Pier 70 Special Use District Redevelopment
ENGEO performed geotechnical engineering services for the site redevelopment, including seismic engineering for the proposed residential and commercial buildings.

2. CalGeo Public Large-Budget Honorable Mention Award for The River Islands Community Flood Control project
ENGEO performed detailed exploration and engineering analyses in support of the construction and certification of over 16 miles of newly constructed levees designed to protect against 200-year flood events. The River Islands levees were evaluated for stability (static and seismic), seepage (through and under), and settlement under anticipated hydraulic loading conditions for 100- and 200-year river stages.
3. CalGeo Private Medium-Budget Honorable Mention Award for Potrero Power Station Shoreline Stabilization
ENGEO is the geotechnical engineer for the Potrero Power Station project. As part of our role, we provided recommendations for ground improvement along the shoreline to provide seismic resiliency to the development. In addition, our work has included preparing design-level geotechnical recommendations for streets and infrastructure, future buildings, retrofit of existing buildings and facilities, and a new recreation dock.
“We are honored to have received three outstanding project awards for the Potrero Power Station, River Islands, and Pier 70 projects. We are proud of our team’s constant dedication to excellence and the success of these projects. Thank you to our clients for their continued support and CalGeo for this recognition and the amazing conference they hosted,” says Chris Stouffer, PE.
