The photovoltaic solar array system covers 7 acres of land at the Ohlone College Campus and was initially planned to neutralize yearly operational costs for the school. ENGEO’s assistance focused on the foundation design of the 1.1-megawatt system which utilizes approximately 5,000 photovoltaic modules. This system is now supported on driven pipe pile foundations.
ENGEO prepared a geotechnical report that included field exploration, laboratory testing, analysis, and geotechnical recommendations for foundation design. Some geotechnical challenges ENGEO faced included undocumented fill that required remedial grading recommendations.
